Aus Day Lamingtons

January 26, 2017 0 Comments

Australia Day was first celebrated in the early 19th century, called "First Landing Day" or "Foundation Day" and referred to the day in 1788 when Captain Arthur Phillip, from Great Britain, commander of the First Fleet of 11 convict ships and the first governor of New South Wales, arrived at Sydney Cove. This was symbolised by the raising of the Union Jack. The term 'Australia Day' did not come about until 1935, when all state and territories began to use the name to mark the date. And not until 1994 did the day become a national holiday. The tradition of having Australia Day as a national holiday on 26 January is a recent one.
Today, Australia Day marks a celebration for ALL Australians. Not just those that landed, but those who lived here before that time, honouring age old traditions and new ones too. So today we celebrate our Indigenous brother and sisters as well as our convict heritage, and the enriching of a contemporary Australian culture where millions of people come together to call this country home. And what better way to do that than with some healthy Lamingtons. Happy Australia Day.

Mucuna — also known as Velvet Bean — is a legume, traditionally used for general wellbeing, the brain and hormones, is classified as an Adaptogen, and listed as a nutraceutical nootropic. Mesquite
Mesquite powder, also know as Algarrobo, is native to Peru, Ecuador and Columbia and for centuries was a staple food for ancient South American desert dwellers. Boasting 10g protein per 100g, studies* suggest it can also help balance blood sugar levels.
